Tearaway Unfolded

Localization and Studio Recording

I was responsible for fully localizing the UI and dialogue content of Tearaway Unfolded into Arabic. One of the key challenges was adapting the script to account for both male and female gender options, as required by Media Molecule. Given the gendered nature of Arabic, this required a thoughtful and flexible approach to ensure the language aligned with the player's chosen character from the start of the game. I also attended the voice-over recording sessions to guide the voice talents and ensure they adhered to Media Molecule’s specific guidelines. The project was successfully delivered on time, meeting all quality and localization requirements.

FIFA 17

Localization and Commentator's Scripts

I worked on the Arabic localization of all FIFA titles from 2015 to 2023, covering UI, Career Mode, FUT, and all other in-game modes. My role extended beyond text localization—I was also responsible for creating the Arabic commentary scripts from scratch, crafting stitched sentences and tailoring them to fit the commentator’s delivery. In earlier editions, EA Sports collaborated with Issam Chaouali. Starting with FIFA 17, the Arabic commentator switched to Fares Awad, which required a complete overhaul of the scripts to match his unique style. I handled this adaptation and also reviewed all recorded lines to ensure they aligned with the in-game triggers and met EA's quality standards. While EA transitioned to another vendor for UI localization starting with EA FC 25, I remain the primary provider for Arabic audio script creation for the EA FC series

DESTA: THE MEMORIES BETWEEN

Localization

I localized the UI, game scripts, story, and dialogue into Arabic. The project presented a unique challenge due to the inclusion of several non-binary characters, including the protagonist. Arabic lacks established grammatical structures or widely accepted references for non-binary representation, and the use of “they/them” doesn’t translate well due to the language’s gendered and dual forms. To address this, I carefully transcreated much of the dialogue, ensuring cultural relevance for Arabic-speaking players while preserving the essence of the characters and narrative. I adapted the syntax to sound natural and authentic in Arabic, representing non-binary characters respectfully without altering their identity.

Fortnite

Localization and Testing

Prior to the launch of the Arabic edition, I worked on the Arabic localization of Fortnite. I handled the full scope of localization, covering characters, menus, UI, weapons, and all in-game content. Given that some character names and dialogue were culturally sensitive, I adapted the content to be culturally appropriate for Arabic players without compromising the game’s original spirit. I also conducted in-depth testing of the pre-launch Arabic version to ensure the final release was polished, consistent, and error-free. In addition, I provided direct support for urgent requests from Epic Games USA via Slack, maintaining close communication despite the significant time zone difference.
